The Iowa Center

The Iowa Center The Iowa Center supports Iowans seeking assistance to launch, manage, grow or finance their small business. Education + Resources. Credit + Lending.

The Iowa Center houses the state's only Women's Business Center, which supports the women and men of Iowa with business education and one-on-one business counseling. Education includes entrepreneur readiness, business plan building, and a variety of niche topic workshops. Also within this department: our organization proudly offers the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program for tax prepara

tion and planning services year-round. Through the Iowa Economic Development Authority, The Iowa Center offers loans from $5,000-$50,000 for qualifying businesses. Credit counseling is also available to small business owners. Advocacy + Networking. The Iowa Center offers networking opportunities with Iowa professionals as well as introductions to small business specialists. We offer programs designed to help small business owners build personal, professional, and social relationships.

Meet Kim and Trish with Hawkeye Area Community Action Program (HACAP), one of our Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) partners! VITA would not be possible without the support of statewide partners, collectively working together to help Iowans file accurately, correctly claim, save on costly preparation fees, and access financial counseling.

Thank you for all you do to support Iowans! Learn more about HACAP and all they are doing in our communities at: https://www.hacap.org/

"By strengthening household finances one return at a time, VITA transforms tax season from a source of stress into an opportunity. Those refunds often help families pay for necessities close to home such as rent, utility bills, groceries, childcare, transportation, emergency savings, and other essentials. The IRS estimates that extension’s VITA services resulted in more than $9.3 million in economic impact in Iowa this year."

Check out this amazing article from one of our partners, Iowa State University Extension, on the impact of VITA on Iowans!
