Surveys are the go-to way of getting feedback quickly and are often easily reviewed for a score or rating. Ignoring Performance Issues will not make them go away.

There are some issues that "take care of themselves" but performance is not one of them. Low performance not only harms productivity from a particular employee but also harms the morale of their direct coworkers. Questions about why someone gets away with doing the bare minimum (or less) lead others to lose motivation.

Keeping on top of performance management for both positive situations and those needing a course correction is crucial for the reasons above and to ensure those who go the extra mile are rewarded appropriately.

In the wide array of attendance policies, many different systems exist. Point-based system, strike system, "only when it's a problem", and many others.
