After taking countless personality and career-based assessments and coming up with recurring results, Valaise began to embrace her natural skill set. Armed with that information, Valaise decided to go back to school to pursue a degree in Accounting. After completing the foundational Accounting courses, Valaise decided to broaden her horizons and change to the field of Finance where she earned a Bachelors of Business Administration with high honors @ Davenport University. “I realized that the community of people I grew up knowing and loving could benefit from the gifts and knowledge that I had been blessed with, so I began to nurture that skillset so I could give back”, says Valaise. Tax Tip Tuesday | The Cost of Ignoring an IRS Notice

📬 That IRS notice isn't going away just because you don't open it.

One of the most expensive financial mistakes business owners make is ignoring IRS correspondence. A notice doesn't always mean you owe more taxes, but it does mean the IRS needs your attention.

Here's what you should do instead:

✅ Open every IRS notice as soon as it arrives.
✅ Read it carefully to understand what action is needed.
✅ Compare the notice with your tax records before responding.
✅ Respond by the deadline, even if you disagree with the notice.

Waiting too long can lead to additional penalties, interest, collection actions, or the loss of your opportunity to resolve the issue quickly.

Financial clarity begins with timely action. The sooner you address an issue, the more options you typically have.

One simple shift can change the way you manage your business finances: Give every dollar a destination.

Many entrepreneurs believe the solution to financial stress is earning more revenue.

Your financial reports should do more than tell you what happened. They should help you decide what to do next.

Estimated Taxes: Who Really Needs to Pay Them?

Many entrepreneurs assume they can simply pay their taxes when they file their return. Unfortunately, that can lead to penalties and unnecessary stress.

If you expect to owe $1,000 or more in federal taxes, you may need to make estimated tax payments throughout the year.

Here's one practical step you can take today:

✔ Review your year-to-date profit.
✔ Set aside a portion of every payment you receive for taxes.

Remember, through our P.O.T.S.™ framework, every dollar needs a destination—including your tax dollars. Building this habit can help you avoid cash flow surprises and stay financially prepared.

The Biggest Financial Mistake Isn't Bad Bookkeeping. It's Waiting Too Long.

Many entrepreneurs don't ignore their finances because they don't care.

They ignore them because business gets busy.

Then one day, an unexpected expense, cash flow challenge, or tax deadline forces them to stop everything and figure out what happened.

That's not financial leadership. That's financial reaction.

One simple habit can help change that.

Each month, apply 𝗙𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹𝗖𝗣𝗥™:

✔ Categorize your transactions accurately.
✔ Post your financial activity consistently.
✔ Reconcile your bank and credit card accounts.

This simple system helps you identify problems early, make better decisions, and lead your business with greater confidence.

Financial clarity isn't created during tax season.

It's built one month at a time.

Ready to strengthen your financial foundation?

Take our 𝗙𝗥𝗘𝗘 𝗙𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝗹𝗮𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗤𝘂𝗶𝘇 to identify opportunities for greater financial clarity. When you're ready for personalized guidance, schedule a 𝗙𝗘𝗔𝗥𝗟𝗘𝗦𝗦 𝗖𝗹𝗮𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗖𝗮𝗹𝗹 to gain practical insights and a clear path forward for your business.
