Jennifer Washington is committed to celebrating Detroit’s legacy as the birthplace of techno. What better time than Movement weekend to welcome her as the newest member of the Green Garage virtual office community?! 🎧🎛️🎹

Check out her film “God Said Give ‘Em Drum Machines” this Friday night at Campus Martius! It’s being screened during a free pre-Movement event that includes speakers, guided movement, a mindfulness session, a DJ set, and more.

Tonight’s event is all part of the Electric Roots Film, Music and Arts Festival, a global celebration of Black electronic music, cinema, and culture, with in-person and online events taking place through June! Check out the link below for more—and happy Movement! ⚡️

Is there anything better than when your friends show up bearing books?! Thanks to our dear friend Arthur Lone Bear Young from Seasons Market & Cafe for dropping by and gifting us a copy of the legendary Buildings of Detroit by W. Hawkins Ferry! 😍

It’s a perfect fit for the Green Garage library, which is focused on local culture and history as well as sustainability. Most of the books are available to members of our coworking community and visitors to borrow, though we think we’re going to reserve this baby for in-house use only…. 📖🏢

Thank you, Arthur! 🙏💚

So proud of this grad! 🧑‍🎓 Congratulations to Andrina from our virtual office & operations team on earning her BA in Spanish and International Studies from Wayne State!

We’re so grateful to Andrina for her many ongoing contributions to our community, and to our friends at WSU for introducing us to her! We first met during a visit to her climate, environment, and media class two years ago and the rest, as they say, is history. Congrats to her, and to all the grads celebrating this milestone this season! 🙌👏📚

What could be a better way to close out Earth Week than hearing about a recent clean air victory for Detroit? 🌎

Check out our latest blog post and listen to last week's community lunch talk by Nick Leonard, executive director of Great Lakes Environmental Law Center and longtime member of our coworking community.

He spoke about the recent federal court decision to hold DTE Energy liable for increased air pollution coming from their EES Coke Battery Zug Island plant—a case he's been working on since 2022. This is a HUGE win for the Southwest Detroit, Ecorse, and River Rouge communities. We are so proud of Nick and the work he has done to make our corner of the world a healthier place! 🙌⚖️

At April 17th’s Community Lunch, Nick Leonard spoke on winning a landmark $120 million judgment against DTE to protect the air quality of communities along the Detroit River.

🌎 Happy Earth Day! In celebration of this global celebration of ecological awareness and action, our latest blog post looks at some of the design and operational principles that keep our historic Detroit coworking space operating at about 10% of the waste, water, and energy of a traditional office building.

How we keep our historic Detroit coworking space operating at about 10% of the waste, water, and energy of a traditional office building.

Cheers to Motor City Brewing Works! 🍻 Our good friends and neighbors are pausing business operations at the end of this week after more than 30 years in the Cass Corridor 🫶

We’ve worked closely together for more than 18 of those years, most notably when we co-created the our shared green alley in 2009 with support from Midtown Detroit, Inc.✍️🪏🌱

During community lunch this Friday, Feb 6, we’ll be hosting MCBW founder John Linardos for a look back at their early days and at some of the work we’ve done together. Join us to help celebrate a true Cass Corridor institution. All are welcome! Lunch provided by MCBW 😋
