We loved hearing from longtime graphic designer and small business owner Andy Kopietz recently during community lunch! His company Good Done Daily has been based out Green Garage since last year, but our relationship goes all the way back to 2010, when we were first developing our building and he lived next door.

Andy chose to focus his talk on three lessons he's learned over his 15 year career in collaborative design:

• Knowing when to lead and trust someone else’s expertise
• How collaboration reveals what’s missing
• How people tend to care more about what they help create

Join us for community lunch at the Green Garage this Friday, 10/2 to hear a talk by the one and only Adrienne Wisok of Animal Intuition!

Adrienne, a Green Garage alum, will share her work training dogs and other dog trainers, and explain how her early experience at the GG continues to influence her triple bottom line business. This will be the first of several community lunch talks in the coming months celebrating the Green Garage’s 15 years in business 🎉

We loved sharing our work in Detroit with these terrific architecture students from Montana State University! Thanks to Dr. Jordan Zignego for organizing the visit and encouraging emerging architects to think about the connection between sustainability and adaptive reuse. Like the architect Carl Elefante put it in 2007, "The greenest building is the one that is already built." 🌱

The nation’s largest urban equestrian center is taking shape on the west side of Detroit! Check out this recent construction pic and final design rendering of Detroit Horse Power’s forthcoming new home at the corner of Linwood and Fenkell 😍

On Friday, August 21, DHP's founder David Silver will share an update during commmunity lunch at the Green Garage. Join us then to learn how DHP's new green building will support their great work helping Detroit youth build critical life skills through the care and riding of horses.

Our inspiration was the publication of "Black Summers," a new anthology from Wayne State University Press that features contributions by longtime Green Garage community members Keith Owens and Pamela Hilliard Owens.

During our August 7 community lunch, we were insipred by the book "Black Summers" to hold a community conversation about summer in Detroit.

We were delighted to welcome a great group of sustainability-minded students and faculty from Wayne State, Iowa State University, and Hochschule Harz and Hochschule Ruhr West in Germany today!

They’re working together in Detroit to tackle real-world sustainability challenges as part of the Transatlantic Summer School in Sustainability. We’re grateful for the opportunity to share our green approach to historic building renovation and connect with friends from near and far who are working for a more sustainable future for our planet! 🌎
