Applications Now Open | Rebuild and Rise: The Washtenaw Microenterprise Growth Cohort

Small businesses across Washtenaw County are still navigating the long-term impacts of COVID-19. In response, we are launching Rebuild and Rise, a 6-week intensive, hybrid accelerator designed to help microenterprise owners stabilize, modernize, and position their businesses for sustainable growth.

This cohort is designed for Washtenaw County microenterprises (5 or fewer employees) that were established on or before March 16, 2020 and experienced COVID-related disruptions.

Participants will receive:
• Hands-on business coaching and technical assistance
• Support with sales strategy, marketing, and cash flow
• Peer learning and accountability
• The opportunity to be considered for a $2,500 business grant upon successful completion

Key Dates
• Applications accepted now through February 11, 2026 (11:59 PM)
• Acceptance notifications sent February 13, 2026
• Cohort begins February 18, 2026

The program meets Wednesdays and Thursdays from 6:30–8:00 PM and includes in-person and online sessions (hybrid).

A huge shoutout to Ylondia Portis, CEO of BrandHRT Evolution, for leading an incredible session on Strategic Marketing! Her insights on connecting with consumers, refining our selling points, and identifying our "why" were invaluable for the cohort. 🙌

But this cohort is becoming so much more than just learning about business—we’re building lifelong friendships! Last night, we celebrated Laquinta's 50th birthday with cake and had a surprise pizza party thanks to Kendra from SkillSet! 🍕🎂

Building relationships that can support you throughout your entrepreneurship journey is just as important as the education we receive. The connections we’re creating here will last well beyond the cohort!

🌟 MOMENTUM Accelerator is Here! 🌟

This has truly been a work of my passion, and I can hardly believe I’ve created such a dynamic program to empower small businesses to scale, become capital-ready, and drive economic growth in our community. MOMENTUM has been a vision that I’ve nurtured for so long, and seeing it come to life is a dream come true.

I am deeply honored by all of the funders who have come together to support this initiative and continue enabling me to do the work that I love. A huge thank you to the subject matter experts who will be joining us to share their invaluable knowledge and insights to propel these businesses forward. This cohort is going to be amazing and I know they are set to do amazing things!

We had a fantastic time this morning at **Fearless Financing Fridays**! 🌟 We dove into understanding the various business functions that qualify for funding, helping business owners gain clarity on what they need to grow. Each participant completed an exercise to itemize the costs of doing business, revealing whether they were flush with funds or bootstrapping their way through.

Empowering business owners to understand that financial help is available and overcoming the fear of debt is crucial for stabilizing their businesses. This support lays the foundation for sustainable strategies that can keep them thriving for generations to come.

🎉 What an incredible day with the youth at Cody Rouge Community Action Alliance in partnership with Grow Detroit Young Talent (GYDT)! 🌟

Today, we had so much fun diving into research and development for new products and learning how to set prices based on profitability, revenue, and cost analysis. The room was filled with giggles and creativity as the kids got hands-on experience in making their own unique flavors using various seasonings. 🌶️🍭

It was amazing to see them not only learn the basics of starting a business but also grasp the importance of making money through smart pricing and cost analysis. They truly impressed me with their innovative ideas and enthusiasm!

Great job, everyone – you all did an amazing job today! 🚀👏
