A search for the flavors of home became the foundation for Tacos Hernandez. 🌮

Founded by Diana Gomez, Tacos Hernandez brings the traditions of northern Mexico to Detroit, honoring her family’s roots in Chihuahua while sharing the diverse flavors and stories that make Hispanic heritage unique.

After nearly 20 years in the restaurant industry, Diana turned her passion for food into a business rooted in family, culture, and community. From making fresh tortillas each morning to serving customers across Detroit, she brings care and consistency to every meal.

With support from ProsperUs and Detroit’s small business community, Diana continues to grow her business while finding ways to give back and support the local economy.

🎉 Want a taste of Diana’s story? Join us TOMORROW at the 2026 ProsperUs Detroit Family Block Party at Eastern Market’s Shed 5 from 5–8 PM! Stop by the Tacos Hernandez food truck, grab a bite, and meet the entrepreneur behind the flavors.

For Diana Gòmez, every dish tells a story of home, heritage, and the traditions that shaped her.

Through Tacos Hernandez, Diana brings the flavors of northern Mexico to Detroit, drawing inspiration from her roots in El Paso and Chihuahua. From handmade tortillas to family-inspired recipes, her food is a reflection of where she comes from and the community she’s built here.

Behind every taco is time, care, and a commitment to honoring tradition while making it her own.

This Hispanic Heritage Month, we’re celebrating Diana, her journey, and the story behind Tacos Hernandez.

Heritage shapes how we see possibility.

This Hispanic Heritage Month, ProsperUS Detroit recognizes the entrepreneurs whose ideas are informed by culture, strengthened by experience, and built with purpose. Their businesses are more than enterprises, but expressions of identity, engines of opportunity, and investments in the communities they call home.

We celebrate the heritage behind the hustle, the stories behind the businesses, and the vision driving what comes next. ❤️
