Isiah “Zeke” Thomas! Baaaad Boys!! There’s so much that I can say about this man as a young girl growing up playing point guard but it’s what he represents in addition to basketball that’s amazing. This NBA legends commitment and dedication to the community and his business acumen and aptitude in which I greatly respect is absolutely astounding. The stories and revelations shared at Detroit Homecoming with Ethan Davidson, Director of William Davidson Foundation (William Davidson son) and George Blaha (nba announcer) were hidden gems that Zeke influenced as a leader was profound in its own right. I wish I could share more of the discoveries but he’s always been a visionary and trailblazer. What I love the most is our conversation about environmental and sustainable practices which led to a few questions regarding his partnership with Cheurlin . What a great experience as two hoopers discussing sports and leadership, I loooove champagne and the process of production. I think it’s brilliant that he and his wife aligned with a sustainable and low sugar product. I’ve always stated that Isiah is truly one of the best to ever do it, give it up for this Hall of Fame icon. Cheers to the Bad Boys. Definitely a great win today, I felt like getting back on the court.

It was very entertaining watching Beyoncé, she was stunning but I must admit that the attendees were just as entertaining. Maybe it was the 2 hour anticipation and the delay for her to hit the stage but the audience was a show of their own. Oh, and Jay Z was about 10-15 feet away, I straightened my hair but the rain created gravity—glad I brought my Tigers cap. Shout out to my family and friends that I visited with during the wait, it was great catching up. I don’t attend concerts often but hey it was

Yesterday I attended University of Michigan’s Sustainable Strategy: A Conversation with President Santa Ono. It was exciting to listen and learn about his vision for University of Michigan. His boldness and inspiration for climate justice inspired me to prepare for future projects. I loved the commentary on colonialism, I’ve brought that topic up for the last 20 years. I have a great appreciation for leaders who address racism, colonialism but provide an agenda with solutions that encourage DEI, community engagement and unity. He gave perspective on the treaties made between Canada and the indigenous people and brought focus to UofM’s treaty. I absolutely loved the commentary on failures of commitments and how leaders and corporations have to be held accountable. I haven’t been this excited about partnerships in a long long time but I’m definitely looking forward to our research and development with University of Michigan’s School for Environment and Sustainability (SEAS) and the Erb Institute. He understands climate solutions and climate resiliency is top priority. I felt like I was dreaming yesterday due to my climate action journey especially when decisions are being made and your sitting at the table and there’s no BIPOC representation. Engaging with the people and community is the key.
