⏳🚐 THE SEMA TIME CAPSULE IS ON THE MOVE!
Some cargo is a little more precious than others…
Originally packed and sealed in 1996, the SEMA time capsule was created to preserve a piece of our industry’s history for 100 years. The instructions are pretty simple:
🔒 Sealed: 1996
🔓 Open: 2096
After calling SEMA Garage LA home, it was time for the capsule to head east to its new home at SEMA Garage Detroit.
But we couldn’t just drive a piece of automotive history across the country without showing it around. 😎
🚐💨 So the time capsule hit the road — making a few very appropriate stops along the way.
🏁 Automotive Hall of Fame
🏭 Ford Motor Company landmarks in Detroit
🔧 Historic Highland Park
🏎️ Bonneville Salt Flats
🌙 And finally… SEMA Garage Detroit
Along the way, the capsule got a front-row look at some of the places, people and history that helped shape the automotive industry it was created to preserve.
And waiting for it in Detroit was Ben Kaminsky, General Manager of SEMA Garage Detroit, helping welcome this very unusual delivery to its new home. 👋
The best part?
None of us get to peek inside. 😂
This capsule carries a snapshot of where our industry was, what mattered to us and what we imagined the future might look like.
For now, it has a new home in Detroit.
Only 70 more years to go. ⏳
Who wants to put a reminder on the calendar for 2096? 😂
