Now THIS was a cool gig! My friend Fish Fisher produced the new album from rising superstar EmiSunshine. They rented out the entire Bijou Theatre in Knoxville to record a music video and hired me to do drone video INSIDE the building. Just walking into the building via the stage entrance and seeing it empty was amazing.
The drone part? Disaster. The drone has to have a GPS signal, and it just wasn't happening inside those thick old walls. I even tried launching it outside and flying it in through the door (which was difficult) but it immediately crashed as soon as I got it inside. It just wasn't going to work. I will say, I did tell Fish earlier that I had not done an inside job and didn't have anywhere big enough to test the idea out in advance.
Luckily, the building does have an upper level so I was able to use my Canon EOSR camera to record video footage from an elevated standpoint. Not as cool as drone footage, but better quality video. So I did manage to get a bunch of footage to provide to the video director. And they're nice people so nobody gave me a hard time about the drone.
Sometimes problems happen and you just gotta figure it out.
