DILLEY METAL IS ROCKIN’ IT!

If you drive by Dilley Metal Recyclers on I-35, you might find yourself thinking, “Hmm… now that is an interesting building.”

And if so, you’ll find out if you talk to the owner, Tommy Davis, that is just the effect he was going for. Davis, a long-time motorcycle enthusiast was intrigued when he visited Full Throttle in Sturgis, North Dakota. He thought it would be nice for motorcycle riders to have a place to stop and rest when traveling through South Texas.

To this end he started adding unique features to his place of business by using “found objects,” many of which are hand-made and over 100 years old.

The rocks in this picture are just that. They were mined and cut for a very old building in North Texas, which has since been demoed.

This is NOT "The Dirty Dozen," or "The Magnificent Seven." It's Dilley Metal's version of "The Fearsome Th*****me." Jesus, Tommy and Carlos are at it yet again. They have proudly off-loaded their "new toy" --the shear, which will make short work of cutting over-sized tires into manageable pieces!

God bless Texas! The flag pole project was a big (and we do mean big) success and the State of Texas flag is flying proudly above the business. Tommy said the U.S. flag will join it after it undergoes a few repairs. Evidently it went some hard times in its past life... kind of like the country it represents... and will soon be restored to its rightful place!

The Dilley Metal "boys" are at it again! Let's see... it is an average day in Dilley, Texas. For once, things are moving a little slow, so.... how do you fill the time? Owner, Tommy, has a great idea! A customer has brought in a 40-foot pipe for recycling.... why not put up a flagpole? But a piece of metal of that magnitude is very heavy, so it required some ingenuity to get it upright and keep it up there. It took Carlos, Jesus and Tommy all working together to accomplish this feat!

Dilley Metal Recyclers is pleased to introduce the latest member of our team, Jesus Cortez, Jesus comes to us from Brownwood, Texas, where he grew up and went to school. He has most recently been working as –among other things --an equipment operator for a large-scale tree farm and plant nursery.

But if his face looks familiar, it is probably because he is the grandson of Richard Silva, who grew up in the Devine, Texas area and worked for Dilley Metal Recyclers when it first opened in 2012. Richard has many skill sets but may be best known for his excavation expertise. It was not uncommon for customers to remark that he could make any dirt work project “look like a park.” Richard is shown (right) in the picture with Carlos Villarreal, Sr.

Carlos, former owner of Eagle Oilfield Services, has logged in many hours on Dilley Metal Recyclers’ projects as both an equipment operator and welder. His beautiful welding projects can be seen throughout the area in the form of ranch gates and many other specialty items including custom features on our new office,
Jesus, Richard and Carlos proved their mettle throughout the years, when they showed up to work in large scale disaster zones throughout the United States. These included the BP Oil Spill, Hurricane Harvey and the Flood in Louisianna (just to name a few). We are very proud of the strength of character and skill reflected in our crew! We hope you will come around to meet them.

If you have driven by or dropped by our site at 16700 S. Interstate 35 near Dilley, Texas, you may have noticed some interesting changes have taken place. Owner, Tommy Davis, Carlos Villarreal and "Bob-the-builder", have been busy turning recycled building materials into what they hope will be a very unique experience for its customers. The "new" office building is being constructed from 100-year-old beams, metal poles and siding from local buildings that were scheduled for demolition. We hope that you will stop in to visit once the building is complete, but in the meantime if you have recycled metal for purchase or tires that need to be disposed of, you can still reach Tommy at 325-642-3949.
Also. we hope that you will join us in welcoming our new mascot. Buddy -- a 180+ pound Mastiff.
