RUSSIAN PRE-REVOLUTIONARY CAST-IRON CABINET SCULPTURE BY EVGENY LANCERAY, "COSSAK WOMEN'S FAREWELL", PRODUCED AT THE KASIL FOUNDRY. Inside the base are three marks: (1) the double-headed Imperial eagle; (2) a casting code or serial number in a rectangular cartouche, in pre-Revolutionary Cyrillic, reading “???31699”; and (3) the name of the foundry master/molder, also in a rectangular cartouche, “?. ?????????.” This personal master’s mark indicates non-mass production and hand craftsmanship, enhancing both the historical and collectible value of the piece.
