The worst time to discover your organization's weaknesses is during a crisis. After experiencing the collapse of Wirecard, one of Europe's largest corporate fraud scandals, Laura McCracken learned firsthand what happens when governance, leadership, and culture fail.

On this episode of The Leadership Habit, Laura joins Jenn DeWall to share five pillars of organizational resilience and practical ways leaders can prepare their teams for the unexpected. Because resilience isn't built when everything goes wrong. It's built in how you lead every day.

The problem is, once we’ve decided who someone is, we tend to lead them accordingly. Curiosity gives us a chance to understand what we might be missing and respond to the person, not the assumption we’ve made about them.

A bad hire can cost a lot more than the salary.

In a 2025 Robert Half survey, 30% of U.S. hiring managers said they had made a hiring mistake in the previous two years, and 57% said the mistake contributed to additional turnover on their team.

Jeff applied hiring practices he learned through Crestcom, including asking better interview questions and involving his team in the hiring process. He estimates those changes have saved more than $50,000 per hire.
