Every leader eventually faces the conversations they'd rather not have. Whether it's addressing performance issues, resolving conflict, delivering difficult feedback, or navigating workplace tension, these moments often define a leader more than any other part of the job. In this interactive workshop, participants will learn practical strategies to approach challenging conversations with confidence, reduce defensiveness, manage emotions, and turn conflict into opportunities for growth. Through real-world scenarios, discussion, and hands-on activities, current and emerging leaders will leave with tools they can immediately apply to strengthen relationships, improve accountability, and build healthier, more productive teams.

READY TO PITCH IT OR GROW IT? APPLICATIONS ARE OPEN!

We’re proud to continue the Pitch It & Grow It Surry Summit Grant Programs for another year!

In partnership with the Small Business Center at Surry Community College and powered by the Duke Energy Energy Foundation, these programs are designed to support Surry County entrepreneurs at every stage of their journey!

PITCH IT:
For startups and early-stage entrepreneurs with bold ideas.
Compete for up to $2,500 in grant funding.

GROW IT:
For established businesses operating for at least two years and ready to take the next step.
Compete for up to $5,000 in grant funding.

Both programs include four educational classes designed to provide practical guidance, resources, and preparation for the competition. Participants may miss one class.

Applications are due September 18, 2026!

We are incredibly grateful to every individual, business and organization that has donated to support our local small businesses affected by the recent flooding.

The Small Business Center has spoken with most of the impacted business owners, and their stories are heartbreaking. These entrepreneurs have poured their time, resources, and hearts into their businesses only to see so much taken away in a matter of moments.

We are still accepting tax-deductible donations through the Surry Community College Foundation. Every contribution will help local businesses recover, replace damaged equipment and inventory and work toward reopening their doors.

Thank you for standing with our small-business community when they need us most. Together, we can help them rebuild and recover ❤️

The Small Business Center welcomed a group of middle schoolers this week for its 1st annual Middle School Entrepreneurship Camp held at SBCInterworks Coworking.
This camp was sponsored by Young Entrepreneurs of Surry (YES Surry).
