The Donora Wax-Coated Plastic Silverware Company is preparing for our enormous 15th Anniversary Celebration (2007 - 2022), which is scheduled to take place this August!
The event will kick off with a picnic style dinner on the patios of our St. Nicholas Drive Headquarters. Dinner will be prepared by Chef Andre, and will feature a menu inspired by Greek and Mon Valley Style favorites! After dinner, a short demonstration will take place, showing how our founders developed the idea of wax coated plastic silverware, which to that point, had never been produced domestically. Our initial wax coating machine and refractory analysis equipment now sits in the rear of the property, between the bee keeping area and the Lignelli Gardens. This equipment will be on display for those in attendance. Shuttles will run those in attendance between our corporate headquarters and where the main celebration will take place, Ken Griffey Field (next to the Valley Skating Center). There will be numerous food trucks, games, and rides available to the public. Don't forget to stop by the DWX Tent to learn more about our new products to be unveiled in 2023!
At 7:00 PM, longtime DWX Corporate Secretary, Mrs. Tonya Tiffany, will introduce the board members, where they will deliver speeches, and to thank those who have made this 15 year journey possible, from the great recession of 2008 to the COVID 19 Pandemic. Many numerous local celebrities will also be in attendance including Sally Wiggin, Duck Hodges, Michael Keaton, Joe Manganiello, Jeff Jimmerson, and the owner and proprietor of Hill's Restaurant in New Eagle. It is expected that one of these celebrities will hand out the John Lignelli Lifetime Achievement Award to DWX board members. This award is the Mon Valley's most prestigious honor and is rarely given out, having only been awarded three times in the borough's history.
Following the ceremony, Zambelli will launch fireworks from several barges on the Monongahela River, as Eye C Snakes performs their hit single "Ghost Town". Other artists that are expected to perform are August and Everything After, Joe Grusheky and the House Rockers, a Civilian tribute band, and The Clarks.
Price of admission is $42 dollars and covers the cost of entertainment. Food trucks that are scheduled to attend are Caroline's Halupki Hut, Marty's Pizza, Kielbasa N'at, Mon City Gyro's, Elaine's Coleslaw Cart, and Patty Pulaski's Polish Hill style Pierogies. Games that will be available are Mikey's Duckpin Bowling from Pitcairn, PA and a stand where's you'll be able to throw rings onto vintage bottles of Stoney's Beer to win a prize. Valley Entertainment will also be featuring their new famous ride, "The Forty Eight Smog", which is a spooky themed dark ride where riders are propelled by swiveling cars and noxious amounts of smoke are pumped in while big band music plays.
We hope to see you in August!
