At a time when affordable housing is at the forefront of national concern—especially amid proposed federal budget cuts to vital programs like the Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program, Project-Based Vouchers, Project-Based Rental Assistance, and Emergency Housing Vouchers—our collective voice and leadership are more critical than ever.

Now more than ever, we must advocate fiercely for the most vulnerable among us.

I’m committed to working alongside passionate housing professionals across the 10 southeastern states to protect and expand access to safe, stable, and affordable housing for all.

After a six-month nationwide search, the Sanford Housing Authority recently announced Michael C. Threatt as its new leader and chief executive officer.

On Monday, June 16, 2025, I had the honor of delivering the first-ever “State of the Housing Authority” address for the Sanford Housing Authority.

During this historic moment, I unveiled my report:
“180 Days Later: Reset, Renew, Reframe – A CEO’s Strategic Impact & Vision Report.”

This wasn’t just a presentation—it was a declaration of our unwavering commitment to operational excellence, transparency, and transformation, which aims to turn around our "troubled agency."

I also introduced our bold new vision:
Roadmap 2030: A Strategic Path Forward—a five-year plan designed to:

✅ Tackle financial challenges
✅ Rebuild operational capacity
✅ Restore public trust
✅ Guide SHA toward long-term sustainability and HUD recovery
✅ Lay the foundation for a housing authority of the future

I am deeply grateful to our board, staff, elected officials, and community stakeholders for their support and belief in this transformation.

As I reflect on my road to Kappa Land and through Kappa Land, I am filled with deep gratitude as I approach 23 years in the Bond.

From my internship at Indiana University in the summer of 2002 to crossing the burning sands of the Kappa Kappa Chapter at the University of Alabama at Birmingham that fall, every step has shaped the man I am today.

Now, as a charter member of the Sanford-Pinehurst Alumni Chapter, I am both humbled and honored to help lay the foundation for future Kappa Men in this region. This is more than a milestone—it’s a legacy in the making.
