🛑 SCAM ALERT

There is no new Medicare card being mailed to all beneficiaries at this time. If you get a call, text, or message claiming that Medicare is sending you a “new,” “plastic,” or “chip” card, it’s a scam!

✅Facts
• The most recent national Medicare card update (with new Medicare numbers
replacing Social Security Numbers) was completed in 2019.
• No new cards are being issued for 2025 or any upcoming year unless you personally
request a replacement or are notified by Medicare.
• Medicare will never call, text, or email you asking for your Medicare number,
Social Security number, or bank information to send you a new card.
• You can report the compromised card to Medicare, check your card status, or
request a replacement safely at Medicare.gov or by calling 1-800-MEDICARE
(1-800-633-4227).

🚩Common Scam Tactics
Scammers might say:
• “You need to update your Medicare card for 2025.”
• “We’re issuing new chip or plastic Medicare cards.”
• “Your old card is expiring.”
• “You must pay a small fee for a replacement card.”

These statements are false. Medicare cards do not expire, and no upgrade
fees exist.

To report this type of scam, call the Senior Medicare Patrol at 334-242-5743 or 1-800-
243-5463.
