Elevate Douglas Economic Partnership

Elevate Douglas Economic Partnership Purpose: "To create a globally competitive and resilient economy with a superior quality of life."

Elevate Douglas Economic Partnership works to foster a sustainable economy through economic development activities. Our goals are:
• Increase the local tax base
• Increase Jobs
• Improve the quality of life through increased economic opportunity

Our mission is to bring quality jobs and opportunities for the citizens of Douglasville and Douglas County through continued growth in new and e

xisting industry and the redevelopment of obsolete retail centers. Over $1 billion in new investments have been made in Douglas County in the past five years through the efforts of the Development Authority. We work toward our mission using the philosophy of “if we Can’t, Don’t or Won’t, someone else Can, Do or Will.” Using this as our guide, we strive to meet the needs of business at the speed of business. No project has left Douglas County because the Development Authority could not respond to their needs. The Development Authority of Douglas County provides:
• Confidential Site Selection & Marketing Service
• Program Financing and Incentives
• Demographics and Community Information
• Fast Track Permitting
• Government Liaison Services
• Local Traffic Counts
• Aerial Photography
• Zoning Information
• Residential and Commercial Building Trends

Our state of the art Information Center is available for detailed information about specific parcels and available land, industrial, commercial and retail space. Some information available through this service is: Zoning, Future Land Use, Topography, Aerial Photography, Demographics, Tax history, Owner of record, specific building data and more. Prospects, Developers, Brokers, Property and Business owners are invited to use this facility to help meet their business needs. Created in 1973 by the Douglas County Board of Commissioners, the Development Authority is governed by a nine member Board of Directors and is staffed by an Executive Director, Marketing and Retail Specialist and Administrative Assistant. The Authority meets on the third Friday of each month at 9:00am in our Board Room located at 8512 Bowden street, unless listed otherwise in the Douglas County Sentinel.

Douglas County works because people do.

Employers who invest in their teams. Educators who build real pathways. Partners who show up — day after day — to create opportunity in this community.

This week, we're sharing Douglas County: Impact by the Numbers — a look at the jobs created, investment secured, and workforce wins shaping our economy right now.

73,074 jobs created. $6.89B annual GDP. 9.60% job growth rate. And that's just the beginning.

Great energy yesterday at our first Professional Services Luncheon!

We brought together 19 local attorneys, CPAs, insurance agents, and financial services providers to learn about the new Douglas County Ecosystem Collaborative and how they can support local specialty contractors who are preparing for upcoming industrial and mission critical construction opportunities.

Everyone in the room shared the same excitement: this initiative has real potential to strengthen our local businesses, our workforce, and our entire community.
We’re building a local directory of trusted professional services partners—and this was an incredible first step. More to come as the Collaborative continues to grow.

There was real energy at this morning’s Elevate Douglas Quarterly Investors Meeting—the kind that comes from a community moving in the same direction.

The message was clear: A stronger workforce builds a stronger economy.

Thanks to @ , we heard from leaders across education, workforce development, and nonprofit organizations who reinforced just how important it is to work together:

• Our school system is preparing the next generation of talent
• Our technical college is delivering job-ready training that leads to careers
• Organizations are helping overcome barriers and step into opportunity
• Regional partners are helping ensure Douglas County stays competitive

Across Douglas County, our schools, technical college, nonprofits, and employers are working together to:

✔️ Create clear career pathways
✔️ Provide hands-on training and certifications
✔️ Remove barriers like transportation and childcare
✔️ Connect residents directly to local jobs

And there’s more on the way—including a new Goodwill Career Center and expanded workforce programs that will open even more doors for Douglas County residents.

The future is bright—and it’s being built through collaboration, commitment, and a shared belief in what’s possible right here at home.

Most of us want the same things — more restaurants, better shopping, safer neighborhoods, stronger schools. However these things don’t just appear. They follow strong jobs, good wages, and more people working here during the day.

That’s why Elevate Douglas focuses on industries that naturally bring those benefits. A recent Ernst & Young study of Douglas County showed we’re strongest in four areas:

🔹 Advanced Manufacturing
🔹 Life Sciences & Healthcare
🔹 Technology & Professional Services
🔹 Media & Entertainment

These sectors bring higher paying jobs and long term opportunities — and they help attract the restaurants and retailers everyone keeps asking for.
