National Association of State Boards of Geology (ASBOG)

National Association of State Boards of Geology (ASBOG) The South Carolina State Board of Registration for Geologists hosted the first meeting of Geology Boards of southeastern states in 1988.

This initial meeting included representatives from Georgia, Florida, North Carolina, and South Carolina. Between 1988 and 1990 several meetings where held, and the individual boards recognized there were common interests relating to reciprocity, examinations, policies, and procedures. The initial four states, combined with Arkansas, Virginia, and Tennessee, initiated the development of draft rules

, bylaws, code of ethics, and a proposal on reciprocity for an association of state geology boards. In November of 1990, the National Association of State Boards of Geology held its first official annual meeting.

We're less than 30 days away from the fall offerings of the Fundamentals of Geology and Practice of Geology examinations. If you're searching for a little extra guidance to assist you in your studying for the exam(s), then the FG Prep Course may help get you over the hump. Taught by university professors who also hold PG licensure, our instructors will introduce each subject domain and provide guidance on techniques on how to approach the questions to narrow down to the correct answer.

Each module, 8 in total, is roughly an hour long and you may run it at your own pace. You're not pressured to purchase all eight domains - choose the one or ones that are giving you difficulty if you want to focus on those subject areas.

Choose from:

A. General and Field Geology
B. Mineralogy, Petrology, and Geochemistry
C. Sedimentology, Stratigraphy, and Paleontology
D. Geomorphology, Surficial Processes, and Quaternary Geology
E. Structure, Tectonics, and Seismology
F. Hydrogeology
G. Engineering Geology
H. Economic Geology and Energy Resources

You may purchase all 8 for a reduced price or choose from either the Core Domain package that consists of Domains A thru E above or the Applied Domains package that consists of Domain A plus Domains F, G, and H above.
