We are listed as inventors on a recent US Patent 12,349,911 for a device that closes an incision quickly and as good as a plastic surgeon with minimal scar. The SubQ It! device, that we helped to invent, is now available with 25 and 10 bio-absorbable fasteners per device. We are so confident this is the best device for incision closure that we asked a plastic surgeon to use it on our office manager (wife of president), Amy Leinsing, to close a 5-inch long incision. The result was a remarkable improvement over what the emergency room abdominal surgeon did during original closure. We received CE mark and approval to sell our mitral valve (one of the 4 valves in your heart) repair device in Europe effective April 1, 2021 to May 27, 2024. Phoenix Cardiac (my client of 12+ years) is likely the first company and only company in the world to achieve a CE mark for a Class III medical device as a virtual company. I acted as VP of Engineering for Phoenix. We did all the engineering work on the device including testing, validation, verification, and some limited manufacturing. It was a team effort from many outside of ATech Designs, Inc. and couldn't have done it without the help of Amy McMath, Joseph Durant, and Thomas Lefebvre. Great achievement for our team! Completed another new medical device called a Trachea Alarm. It notifies care takers or clinicians when the trachea tube becomes loose or falls out. This often happens with patients when they cough or move around in bed. We developed all the programmable electronics to monitor position of trachea tube and providing an alarm per FDA standards when position is not correct. The battery level is also monitored and there is intelligence built in to help the care giver position the alarm properly.
