Bubble wrapping can feel protective.

You shield them from tough situations, sure. But you also block their chance to receive, process, and respond to real-life feedback.

Uncomfortable comments, tricky social situations, less-than gentle feedback? Those are all opportunities for growth.

Support comes from allowing kids to feel, name and navigate, instead of just avoiding.

How often do you do something and later say to yourself, “Ugh, that’s not me. Why did I do that?”

That’s called cognitive dissonance. It happens when your actions and values don’t align, which forces your brain to decide: do we fix it, or just pretend it didn’t happen?

Sometimes you change what you do.
Sometimes you rewrite the narrative so things match.

Either way, it’s a totally normal (and super uncomfortable) way your brain tries to calm the tension.

At some point, we've all used these communication styles, right? (Yes. The only answer to this is yes.) Sarcasm is fun when it's funny and can just as quickly turn to fighting words when it's not.

The aim here isn't about being perfect; it’s about being intentional. Assertive communication allows you to express yourself clearly without feeling guilty, losing your cool, or building more resentment while cleaning alone. Think clear, kind, and straightforward.

Right now, everything feels heavy. The news, the constant chatter, and the pressure to give more when you're already maxed out.

It’s tough. Full stop. And as we remind clients (and ourselves) all the time...control what’s in your control.

Start small. Focus on your breathing. Identify the barrier to your peace and set that boundary. Most importantly, be PRESENT where you are.

The tough parts? The heavy parts? Those might be out of your control to fix. But staying connected to yourself and your intentions is where your control (and ultimately your power) lives. Lean into those spaces.

Reminder: Just because it didn’t go as planned doesn’t mean it didn’t matter.

We tell kids all the time that winning isn’t everything but if we’re being honest and real with ourselves, that’s a hard one for adults, too.

Maybe the opportunity flopped.

Maybe the date was a dud.

Maybe it just didn’t turn out the way you hoped.

That doesn’t make it pointless. You get to decide what holds meaning—and sometimes, these moments are just reminders of that.

📚 It’s not always a win—because it doesn’t have to be.

In therapy and in life, truly acknowledging someone's experience means knowing when to listen instead of taking charge (and taking over the conversation).

By putting someone else’s story first, we honor their pain, growth, and truth. Practicing empathy involves staying in our lane and making space, not taking it.

Our little ones are kicking off the week in PFECT style 💙

Mondays are a great reminder to reset and show up for yourself—and your tiny future therapists and expert snack negotiators. As therapists, we may seem calm and collected in session, but trust us, our lives get chaotic too.
