Nietzsche’s thoughts on becoming hopeless.
In Will to Power, Nietzsche argued that nihilism was a result of failed beliefs, particularly religious beliefs. And to a certain degree that’s very true.
To generalize this argument: imagine you placed your hope in professional sports or perusing medicine, and your plan blows up in your face. Do you simply lose faith in your specific dream, and move on to something else? Not really— You lose faith in the concept of dreams themselves.
The point here is that hopelessness directly jeopardizes positive emotion, not just specific factors of life. This was a clip from The Kyle Maxwell Podcast featuring Jay Dyer: “Attack on Christianity” on YouTube.
