Some of the most exciting innovation doesn’t happen inside one organization.

It happens between them.

Education holds a piece.
Industry holds a piece.
Labor holds a piece.
Workforce development holds a piece.
Community holds a piece.

And too often, those pieces are doing really good work — just not always in relationship with one another.

That’s a space Kinect M1 loves to work in.

Not to own the work.
Not to build another institution.
Not to be the answer.

But to help people see one another differently, find the intersections, ask bigger questions, and discover what becomes possible together.

Construction Academy is a pretty incredible example of what that can look like.

Destinations Career Academy of Wisconsin had a bold vision for creating a stronger pathway for students committed to the skilled trades. Around that vision, educators, unions, training partners, employers and workforce leaders are bringing different expertise, resources and opportunities to the table.

And the conversations get interesting when the question shifts from:

“What can my organization offer?”

to:

“What could we make possible for students if we did this together?”

Suddenly, the boundaries between high school, industry training and a student's next step become a little less rigid.

Students can earn nationally recognized MC3 training while still in high school. Industry experiences can become more than exposure — they can become part of a pathway. The people who understand the classroom, the training center and the jobsite can actually design alongside one another.

Kinect gets to help create the conditions for those connections.

Sometimes that means convening.
Sometimes translating between very different systems.
Sometimes noticing a connection nobody else has made yet.
Sometimes asking the uncomfortable question.
Sometimes getting out of the way and letting the people who hold the pieces build.

We don’t need to own the work to help move it forward.

Maybe that’s part of what systems change actually looks like:

Not another organization trying to become the center.

More people realizing there doesn’t need to be a center at all.

Just a shared purpose big enough to bring us together.

And in this case, that purpose is pretty simple:

What more could be possible?

What happens when you put people with big dreams in a room—and help them see how connected they already are?

This week, Kinect M1 had the opportunity to facilitate an intergenerational group of people who share something important:

❤️ They care deeply about their community.
🚀 They have big dreams for what it could become.
👥 And they know they shouldn’t have to build those dreams alone.

We passed a ball of yarn 🧶 from person to person, each strand representing a connection 🔗 , a shared idea 💡, a gift 🎁 , a resource 📕 , or a possibility 💫.

And slowly, something became visible. 👁️

A community isn’t built by one leader with all the answers. It’s built by people recognizing what they each hold—and what becomes possible when they hold it together.

➡️Young people bringing imagination and urgency.
➡️Adults bringing relationships and experience.
➡️Elders bringing wisdom and perspective.

Different generations. Different gifts. Different pieces of the puzzle. 🧩

All connected by a willingness to dream big and work together to move those dreams forward.

By the end, the yarn was tangled, stretched, crossed, and anything but perfect.

Kind of like community. ❤️

The goal isn’t to untangle ourselves from one another.

It’s to realize that our greatest capacity might actually exist in the connections between us. 🌍

This is the kind of work we love facilitating at Kinect M1:

Dream Big. Start Small. Keep Building. ❤️

A few years ago, we had the privilege of walking alongside OneDenmark as consultants while a group of community members asked a pretty powerful question:
What could Denmark become if we stopped starting with what exists—and started with what’s possible?

They dreamed about a community where people of all ages could Connect. Belong. Thrive. They imagined stronger intergenerational connections, opportunities for young people, community programming, partnerships, and a shared space that could bring people and resources together.

Our job at Kinect M1 wasn’t to give them the answer.
It was to help them see what they already had, get curious about what was missing, connect people and possibilities, and build a pathway forward. Because communities already hold so much of what they need to create their future.

And then comes the important part:
🚀 They kept going.

Seeing OneDenmark’s work continue to move from conversations and Post-it notes to something real is exactly why we believe so deeply in Dream Big. Start Small.

Big community change rarely begins with a building.
It begins with people willing to imagine something different—and then take the first small step toward it.

Our clients are all different.

Different industries. Different communities. Different challenges. Different possibilities.

But the work keeps revealing some common threads.

☑️They’re navigating something that doesn’t have an easy answer.

☑️They know the people closest to the experience need to be part of creating what comes next.

☑️They’re trying to connect things that weren’t designed to work together.

☑️They see relationships as infrastructure — not an afterthought.

☑️They’re willing to question assumptions, including their own.

☑️They know meaningful change rarely fits neatly inside one organization, department or program.

☑️They’re willing to start before everything is figured out.

☑️And somewhere underneath it all, they believe there is a possibility they haven’t discovered yet.

The work looks different every time.

Maybe that’s exactly the point.

We don’t come in knowing what the answer is.

We help create the conditions for people to find it — together.

This week, Kinect M1 had the opportunity to join Dani Krueger from Destinations Career Academy of WI to share a little about something we believe deeply:

**Dream big. Start small. Learn fast. Build together.**

Through Kinect M1, we've had the privilege of working alongside DCA and Wisconsin Virtual Academies as a consulting and innovation partner as they continue to grow their Construction & Engineering pathway.

But the learning behind this work started years ago.

We had a big idea: create a physical Hub where virtual students could connect with one another, their community, career opportunities and people they may never otherwise have had the chance to meet.

So we built the Kinect Hub.

And it worked.

Students came. Partners showed up. Relationships formed. Opportunities emerged.

But as we listened and learned, we started asking a bigger question:

What if connection wasn't just something that happened in one place? What if it could be intentionally designed throughout a student's journey?

The Hub taught us that spaces for connection matter — and the systems that create those connections matter just as much.

It also helped us build an incredible network of partners and schools who wanted to be part of creating something more for students.

Today, many of those lessons and relationships are helping inform our work alongside DCA as they build their Construction Academy.

It's bringing together a growing population of virtual students, a real workforce need, and industry and community partners who are willing to invest their time, knowledge and experience in young people.

The opportunity is to create multiple checkpoints of connection throughout a student's journey — authentic experiences, industry exposure, relationships and real mentors from the field.

Not one career day.
Not one tour.
Not one lucky connection.

**A pathway of connection.**

During our presentation, Dani brought our Learning Loop to life by sharing how DCA is putting this approach into practice through Construction Academy.

Because sometimes one idea doesn't end.

It teaches you what to build next.

We started by building a place for connection.

Now, we're helping build a PATHWAY of connection.

Great work starts with great relationships. 💚

Over the past few months, Kinect M1 has had the opportunity to work alongside the incredible team at UW-Green Bay.

We’ve been grateful for every conversation, every perspective shared, every question asked, and every opportunity to learn alongside one another.

There’s something pretty powerful about bringing people together with curiosity — not assuming we already know the answer, but being willing to listen, learn, connect, and imagine what might be possible, TOGETHER.

Grateful for the trust, the partnership, and the people of UW–Green Bay. 💚

Sometimes the best team-building doesn't happen in a conference room.

It happens on a charter boat... when Lake Michigan reminds you who's in charge.

With 4–5 foot waves, we had to adapt, trust one another, and keep encouraging each other. We came back with fish—but the biggest catch wasn't what we brought home.

It was the relationships.

Our Let's Build Together Wisconsin team is made up of people from schools, skilled trades, industry, and community organizations. We each bring different perspectives, experiences, and expertise, but we share one goal: creating more opportunities for young people across Wisconsin.

Days like this remind us that partnerships aren't built through meetings alone. They're built through shared experiences, honest conversations, a few laughs, and facing challenges together.

Because when relationships come first, collaboration follows. And when collaboration grows, all great things become possible.
