This is the Ufonic voice synthesizer product we designed for Borg-Warner a while ago, later acquired by Prescription Learning. The Ufonic design leveraged the TI5220 speech synthesis chip which was used in the “Speak and Spell” and later used to give voice to Steven Hawking. Versions were made for Apple and IBM PC's. We did all the hardware, software, and layout. The TI rep said no one else had been able to use it with a non-TI controller. They credit my design as the first to make it work. The solution: TI calls bit 7 the LSB, so the bits were flipped to use it with other processors. Received 2 patents for the design.
