It's a happy day at The Oklahoma Jo Leather Co! Almost three years ago I was blessed by a family who lost someone who meant a great deal to them. This gentleman had done leathercraft for many years and I was contacted by them by referral of a friend, about possibly purchasing his home leather shop. He had an obvious love of traditional tooling, as I gathered from the great deal of patterns that I collected from his files. Along with many rolls of leather and supplies, there was a "dream machine" of mine, a 29k171. I had always wanted a patcher, but, they were often out of my price range or I was the second in line to a deal that was snatched up. To be honest, when this very opportunity came about, it wasn't a great time and I really didn't think I could make it work. The gentleman's wife sat and talked with me and finally asked if I could make an offer. I told her an absolute truth, that I could not offer what everything was worth but I would be happy to assist in selling things for her, but she still asked me to make an offer and I gave her the number I knew I could manage. Much to my surprise, and leaving me nearly in tears, she accepted the offer and told me that her husband would have been happy knowing that his things were with someone who would truly appreciate them. Much time has passed, as I mentioned, and I hadn't ever had time to service and repair the 29k (it would skip some stitches), but today... Today the patcher sews again and sure is doing a beautiful job of it ๐ค I greatly look forward to the many years of service this beautiful machine will spend with me in the shop and I'm thrilled I was able to get her going as we have many others that still reside with me now.
