Opportunity Description
New technicians will work in a team of experienced technicians to learn the trade. Technicians should be proficient with tools, adequate with a laptop, and have the ability to speak with customers. Technicians should be comfortable on ladders and scissor lifts. Technicians should also be able to travel. Here are some examples of how a daily job might look:
JOB EXAMPLE: Install Security Camera System for Regional Retailer
Scope of Work: Technicians will run Cat6 wire for 70 security cameras. Technicians will mount cameras to steel and wood beams, drywall, and concrete, using different tools, anchors, and mounting accessories. Technicians will setup the camera to meet customer needs. Technicians will set up a Windows Server running the video surveillance software. Technicians will ensure that all cameras are recording to specifications determined by the customer.
Technicians will also train the employees on how to login, see the cameras in live view, and how to extract recorded video to give to police or insurance companies. Technicians feel a sense of great satisfaction when a massive job comes to completion.
Skills Learned on Job:
-Using power and hand tools to accomplish challenging mounting instructions
-Installing low-voltage cable according to building code
-The function of security camera such as lighting scenarios, field of view, compression, and overlays
-Networking skills such as how cameras communicate view IP, how camera pulls time via NTP, use of command prompt, password security
-Analytic skills such as how a camera can record motion and trigger a speaker to play a message
-Scissor lift driving
-The use of a volt meter
-Personal Skills training the customer
JOB EXAMPLE: Install a Fire Alarm System for large warehouse
Scope of Work: Technicians will run low voltage wire for 40 horn strobes, 20 smoke detectors, 6 pull stations, and output devices for the sprinkler systems. The technicians will run wire and install each device per the approved fire plan. Technicians will program the panel and communication device. Technicians will test the system when complete to unsure all devices successfully trip, the horn strobes are in sync, and each device communicates to the central station. Technician will also train the customer on how to use the keypad to manipulate the system.

-Fire and Life Safety Code
-Polling Loop Applications
-How devices communicate with a fire alarm panel
-How to troubleshoot ground faults and line loss
-Experience for NICET and ESA certifications
-How a fire system communicates with the central station
