2 1/2 Information
There has been a lot of talk and questions about the upcoming 2 1/2 vote, so here is how it will affect us if it doesn’t pass.
-Overtime/Per Diems will be decreased and will cause a lack of coverage and a possible increase in wait time for an EMS or fire response to your home putting your safety at great risk.
- Other departments may have to be called mutual aid for an ambulance due to insufficient staffing which will also drop the Ambulance revenue to the town.
-With less revenue and planned cuts brings us to maintenance and supplies. EMS supply costs are rising along with our call volume. We are licensed at the advanced life support “ALS” level, which is required by the state to carry certain equipment and medication to ensure you get the best care. Failure to maintain and purchase supplies could very well put us at risk for losing the ALS license. Maintenance of our fire apparatus is also crucial to keep them running so we can respond quickly and efficiently when called.
These are the unfortunate risks. But please know, that the men and women of the Dudley Fire Department are committed to continue to serve you all with great pride!
