Do you have unsatisfied customers? See them as a reliable source of learning, says Bill Gates!

I really like this quote. While the human reflex encourages to move away from stormy situations, an entrepreneur must learn to listen carefully to the grievances of his customers.

Why? Because this customer is telling us how to sell to him. He expresses what he likes and dislikes about the relationship we have with him. By listening carefully, we learn how to satisfy him.

Psychology teaches that what is left unsaid is more damaging than what is expressed. Too many people... too many customers... never dare to communicate what they dislike. And then one day, they leave us. Apparently for no reason. Because from our point of view, everything seemed to be going well!

Faced with an unhappy customer, we must ask ourselves the following questions:

Is he the only one experiencing this situation? Could it be that many other customers are experiencing the same irritants?

Is it relatively easy to change our way of doing things at this level? Is this a procedure established only out of habit or out of absolute necessity?

This openness on our part to carefully analyze our customers' dissatisfactions is an important element in evaluating our performance. Customer satisfaction has always been a central element of a company's reputation. Keep in mind that our clients are our first spokespersons.

While it is true that we can never satisfy everyone, it remains essential to constantly improve our actions in order to create as great a positive impact as possible.

Would you like me to give you a recipe for success? It’s quite simple: double your failure rate. These words from Mr. Watson are a tribute to perseverance.

I remember a statistic about the top scorers in the NHL (National Hockey League). It has been proven that the players who have scored the most goals are those who shoot most often at the net. However, those who shoot most often are also the ones who miss their shot most often. Therefore, the best scorers are those who miss the goal most often.

We all know examples of men and women who have achieved remarkable success after experiencing significant failures. Consider:

• Thomas Edison: Approximately 10,000 failures before succeeding with the electric light bulb.
• J.K. Rowling: Numerous publishers rejected the first Harry Potter book.
• Colonel Sanders: About 900 rejections before successfully showing the KFC franchise.
• Oprah Winfrey: Many failures before becoming one of the most influential women.

Failure should never be seen as the opposite of success. Success and failure are only results. Nothing more.

In truth, you have the choice of how to look at these results: either you let failure discourage you and give up or you analyze what happened and you learn from it.
