Sometimes the best reminder of what we do comes a little too close to home.
After more than 10 inches of rain last night, my own sump pump failed. Thankfully, we caught it before it became a much bigger problem.
I have worked for Midwest Pump Works for seven years. I know a little about pumps, but I know a lot about our company culture.
Midwest Pump Works does not typically handle residential sump pumps, so the fact that we even had one available was a small miracle. But on this holiday morning, our CEO still showed up at my house at 7:30 a.m., installed a new sump pump, and made sure everything was working again.
That "show up when it matters" mindset is exactly what I see every day at Midwest Pump Works. Whether it's a municipal lift station, a pump emergency, or simply helping someone solve a problem, this team takes pride in doing what needs to be done.
It was also a good reminder that sump pumps are easy to forget about until you really need them. If you have one at home, take a few minutes to test it before the next big storm. In our case, a battery backup would not have helped because the pump itself failed, but a battery backup is still an excellent investment in case you lose power during heavy rain.
