Before we were Odin's Beard, we were Dusty Bottle Meadery — born on our family farm in La Center, WA. In 2013, we made a spiced mead that became our biggest mistake and our best seller: cinnamon, nutmeg, and clove, backsweetened with a late-harvest Vietnamese honey. Then, somewhere in ten years of building our new home, it disappeared.
We just found 217 bottles of it — sterile-filtered and perfectly preserved since the day we bottled it. Fourteen years later, the spice has melded into something we didn't know mead could become. Cognac on the nose, opening into rich, hot honey as it warms. Rootbeer-dark. Silk on the tongue.
And despite the spice and the honey, this is off-dry, not sweet — closer to an aged sherry or cognac than a dessert mead.
There will never be more of this.
