SBA National Small Business Week was celebrated by the Oklahoma SBDC and the SBA Oklahoma District Office with sponsor BancFirst in OKC. Executive Vice President of Financial Services Jay Hannah of BancFirst, Greg Costley of Costley Enterprises, and four Oklahoma SBDC clients—Shelly Boren of Shelly’s Stigler Café, Shelley Lynch of 3F’s Poultry and Rabbit Processing, Ali Sevier of Royal Printing, and Gregg Dimery of Fenway Enterprises—were recognized by the SBA District Office at an award ceremony on May 6 at the BancFirst Petroleum Club in downtown Oklahoma City. Speakers included Dr. Michele Hockersmith, State Director of the Oklahoma SBDC; Jeff DeSpain, President of BancFirst; Fernanda Pedraza-Schmitt, District Director of the Oklahoma SBA; Ray Little, Director of Entrepreneurship and Small Business, Oklahoma Department of Commerce; and Stephanie Farris, Business Opportunity Specialist of the Oklahoma SBA. The ceremony was accompanied by an official Proclamation from Governor Stitt, recognizing May 3–9 as Small Business Week in Oklahoma!

The Market at EastPoint, a community-run grocery store in Oklahoma City’s Eastside, celebrated its 5th anniversary in May 2026 with decorations, giveaways, and a busy day of local customers. Opened in April 2021, it was created by RestoreOKC to address long-standing food insecurity in a former “food desert” on NE 23rd Street.
