Kicking off Pride Month with a new job!

I’m excited to be joining Align Technology as a Finance Manager, helping them dig deeper into some billing challenges and streamlining processes.

I’ve spent the last 4 years working with individuals and companies in the career space and at the core of it all, it’s been about strategy. With the combination of experience in Finance from PepsiCo and Uber, my customer-facing experience as a coach, and process expertise as an operator, I’m well positioned and excited to contribute at the enterprise level.

Happy Pride! 🏳️‍🌈

“Do more with less” is basically the unofficial slogan of every small business.

But there’s a difference between building an efficient team and building an exhausted one.

The companies that scale successfully aren’t asking people to work harder forever. They’re helping their teams become more skilled, more confident, and more effective so the same effort produces better results.

That’s the real competitive advantage.

When employees learn how to communicate better, manage projects more efficiently, analyze problems faster, or lead more effectively, everything improves:
→ productivity
→ decision-making
→ collaboration
→ customer experience
→ retention

And the best part? Upskilling doesn’t have to mean expensive conferences or pulling people out of work for days at a time.

for Teams gives small businesses access to courses from industry leaders and top institutions like Yale and Google with structured learning paths that actually connect to business goals.

This isn’t “watch a few videos and hope for the best” training.

With dashboards and measurable skill tracking, you can actually see:
✔️ learning progress
✔️ engagement
✔️ skill development
✔️ where teams need support
✔️ how learning ties back to business performance

The smartest small businesses don’t just hire talent. They continuously develop it.

If you constantly feel like the “fixer” on your team… you don’t have a PEOPLE problem. You probably have a SYSTEMS problem.

A lot of small business owners hire talented people, then accidentally create dependency by becoming the answer to every question. Over time, that leads to:
→ bottlenecks
→ slower growth
→ employee frustration
→ decision fatigue for YOU
→ teams that wait instead of taking initiative

The goal of leadership isn’t to make yourself indispensable. It’s to build a team that can solve problems confidently without needing you in every email chain or meeting.

for Teams structured learning changes everything.

Instead of repeatedly re-teaching the same things, create scalable systems for growth:
✔️ clear learning paths
✔️ role-specific skill development
✔️ accountability through milestones and certifications
✔️ resources employees can revisit independently

Coursera for Teams helps businesses do exactly that with AI-powered program builders, custom learning paths, and badges that make progress visible and motivating.

When employees feel equipped, they perform better.
When managers stop micromanaging, businesses scale faster.

Give your team the tools to thrive without adding more to your plate! Get Coursera for Teams. Link in bio!

These are all great signs!

3 Ways to tell if a company is interested in hiring you:
1. Are they trying to sell you on the company? If they spend time in the interview telling you about the company and team, they want to make sure you fully understand what you’re walking into. A good hiring manager knows you’re assessing them just as much as they are assessing you - they want you to feel like it’s a good fit!

2. Who are you meeting? If you’re meeting with the whole team, that’s a great sign! In most companies, time is scarce. If they’re taking time from everyone’s schedule to meet with you, they’re invested. They want everyone’s input on you and that’s a GOOD thing! Demonstrate who you are and what it would be like to work with you.

3. Asking you questions about your goals/plans. They want to understand your motivations so they can make you a solid offer.

If you think you’re being assessed this way, be sure to show what it would be like to work with you and what you can bring to the team. Don’t forget that it’s important to be a good cultural fit and likable!

Getting promoted shouldn’t feel like being thrown into the deep end without a life jacket.

One of the biggest mistakes small businesses make? Promoting high performers into leadership roles without giving them the tools to actually lead.

What usually happens next:
→ communication breaks down
→ confidence drops
→ burnout creeps in
→ team morale suffers
→ good employees leave

I lived through the “sink or swim” approach myself and it creates stress that’s completely avoidable. The reality is: strong leaders are developed, not magically created overnight.

Here’s how for Teams can help: Giving new managers access to quality credentials, including courses from relevant industry leaders, reputable university-partners, and recognized certificates that can make the difference between a struggling manager and a thriving team.

If you’re a small business owner, think of leadership training as a retention strategy, not just professional development.

📈 Better managers = stronger teams + better business outcomes.

I’ve spent the last 4 years helping people navigate their careers, land jobs, negotiate offers, and figure out what’s next.

And now… it’s my turn again. 🤍

I recently accepted a full-time role in Finance within the tech industry, and I’m genuinely excited for this next chapter. While I’m keeping the details private for now, I will be sharing a detailed series on how I landed this job — from the search process to interviews to mindset shifts along the way.

This experience reminded me that no matter how much experience you have, job searching can still be emotional, humbling, exciting, and transformational. If anything, it’s made me feel even more connected to the people I’ve worked with over the years.

A few things are changing:
✨ I won’t be offering 1:1 coaching right now
✨ I will be doubling down on content
✨ I’ll be creating a consistent Live schedule to answer questions & connect in real time
✨ My resources are still available on my website for anyone who needs support

This isn’t me leaving this space. It’s me entering it from a different perspective. I’ll be taking on opportunities to connect with new audiences through partnerships and expand my reach on socials.

New chapter. Same mission. Let’s do this! 🚀

Don’t over think it!

I think your natural reaction to what they share is completely fine, but if you want to work on some more advance ways to reply, try sharing examples of your experience that align with what they shared.

No matter what you do, remember to keep the conversation flow going and natural. People want to connect with another person - not someone who feels like they’re trying too hard or disingenuous.

You got this! 🙌🏽

Spirit Airlines has closed its gates for the last time. 🛬

After operating for 34 years, Spirit is shutting down. This comes at an interesting time in the industry. 💺

It should be noted that this closer impacts Spirit’s 17,000 employees, who are now without a job. 🙏🏽

What are your thoughts on Spirit’s closer? How do you think regulation/de-regulation impacted their performance? What do you hope for the future of this industry? ✈️

Love this brain hack!

You can self reinforcement and apply it to really anything you want to get done.

What are some ways you kickstart your motivation or encourage yourself when you’re just not feeling like it?

Asking questions at the end of an interview is NOT optional!!

Here are 3 Ways to Approach Asking Questions:

Best Way 🏆: Ask questions about something you discussed in the interview. As you converse with the interviewer(s), questions will naturally come up. If you’re not able to ask in the moment, jot them down to ask at the end of the interview. This shows that you’re engaged and genuinely want to learn more.

Second option 🥈: Come prepared with questions, based on research you’ve done on the role and company. It’s impossible to fit everything into a job description - before the interview, read through the JD and go through the company website. What questions come up? What do you want to learn more about? What is unclear?

No Excuses 🙅🏽‍♀️: Ask questions you know the answer to! Even if you think you have all the answers, the purpose of asking questions at the end of an interview is two-fold. Yes, you genuinely want the answers to any outstanding questions you have, but you also want to demonstrate your thought process. Asking questions you know the answer to can simply help demonstrate what you’re most interested in.

Show them how you think and what resonates with you. Asking questions provides insight into your thought process.

Share some of your favorite questions to ask in the comments!
