Next up: Josh Rigsbee.

Josh grew up in the Chemtek business. Working alongside his father, brother, and sister, he took on many roles across the company before stepping into his current position. Today, he leads the sales team as the Director of Sales, helping build the business into new markets across the country. For Josh, this work has never just been a job. It's the family business, built by his dad and carried forward by the whole family.

As the company celebrates 50 years, Josh isn't looking back so much as forward. "50 years means the beginning of the next part of our history," he says. "We are going to build on what got us here and take it to 100 years and beyond.

Here is our story.

Fifty years ago, David Rigsbee started a small chemical and aviation company in Durham, North Carolina. Three years in, he was handed a death sentence — acute monoblastic leukemia — and told he might not live the week. He walked out of that hospital cancer-free, and he never stopped building.

This is the story of that man, that fight, and the company his grit, faith, and stubborn hope turned into what Chemtek is today — the home of PavePro, now trusted on paving jobs across North America.

From household cleaners and airfield maintenance to a product line used in over 30 countries, five decades of Chemtek come down to one thing: showing up for the people who count on you.

Thank you to every customer, employee, and family member who's been part of these 50 years. This one's for you.

David, thank you.
"Chemtek gave me the chance to dream big and then chase that dream wherever it led around the world," you told us. For fifty years, you've invented, discovered, and helped people solve problems the rest of the industry couldn't. It took dedication, commitment, and sacrifice, but as you put it, "the thrill of helping folks, chasing ideas, building new solutions, and watching the people around me grow and succeed is a career fulfilled."
What makes it even more remarkable is who you did it with. Your family stood beside you every step of the way, and you've called that the real pinnacle of success. That spirit is the same one that built this company from the ground up: people first, relationships that last, and work worth being proud of.
Tonight, we get to celebrate fifty years of that legacy together. And as you look ahead to the next fifty, so do we, with the same dreams, the same goals, and the same family that got us here.
Happy 50th anniversary, Chemtek. Here's to David, and to everything still ahead.

Who would've thought we'd make it this far: Chemtek was founded in 1976 and has grown from a small, one-man distributor to a full-scale, worldwide manufacturer, but our values have not changed.

We are still, and will always be, family-owned and family-operated with our top priority being our customers. We will always go above and beyond to provide the best product and the best service we possibly can.

Next up: Matthew Rigsbee.

Every industry eventually meets its digital moment. For asphalt, that moment arrived on Instagram, and Matthew was one of the ones who saw it coming first. He took a decades-old, word-of-mouth business and gave it a modern brand, building out digital marketing and content strategy from the ground up.

Under his direction, PavePro went from a product customers only heard of from their friends to one of the most recognized brands in the asphalt industry.
His role has grown right along with it. "I started with the company right out of college as the boss's son, wondering if there'd be enough work to keep me busy," Matthew says. "Fast forward four years and I'm now managing 4 employees across marketing, premium production, and small business sales, wishing the work week was a day or two longer."

Matthew didn't just modernize how Chemtek talks to its customers. He changed who gets to hear about it in the first place.

Working with family isn't always easy. Working with family who genuinely respects what you bring to the table is a different story.
Matthew and Josh Rigsbee have built their own lanes at Chemtek, and they lean on each other constantly to fill in the gaps. Both know the product and the customer inside and out, from different sides of the business.
That's what makes it work.
