As we head into a day that we set aside to celebrate our freedom and the opportunity it provides us, I thought I’d take a moment and share a story about ‘Opportunity”. I have had the pleasure to be part of an amazing collaborative of incredible Durham talent through my engagement with Made in Durham; an organization whose sole purpose is to ensure that ALL DURHAM YOUTH have the OPPORTUNITY to participate in the economic prosperity that occurs in Durham, NC. It is an amazing group of organizations, institutions and private sector employers designing and executing those opportunities as an education to career ecosystem. Not a stand alone program…but an ecosystem that connects, provides, supports and celebrates our Durham youth and young adults in their journey to access economic mobility through meaningful careers in the life sciences; A workforce development solution…providing life changing opportunities. It happened because of the collaborative partnership between Made in Durham, Durham Technical Community College, Durham County, the NC Biotechnology Center, and dozens of nonprofit organizations throughout Durham.
