We always think the Speakers at our CEO Forum are a big deal. It’s kinda cool when the rest of the world thinks so too. Erik Mogensen has been disrupting the ski industry for years now. The defining moment of his childhood mountain closing propelled him forward to eventually creating Entanbeni systems, the backbone of the Indy Pass. And now, he’s bringing it all to NH for its homebase at his (and all of ours) beloved Black Mountain. What a treat to be together in packed room as the news broke.

It was a packed house for our Family Business program at the WH Bagshaw Company, Inc. What a perfect setting to hear from Management Consultant experts Eliza Orleans and Lauren Howard of CFAR: Consulting and Coaching about how family business can approach best practice Governance, making the best decisions for the business…and for the family. Decision Charting is a real thing and they broke it all down for us with great energy! While at Bagshaw Co, we got an inside look into this 5th generation business - the oldest industrial pin makers in the USA and also to see their latest venture, the Walter Bat Company, absolutely beautiful customized wooden baseball bats. Thank you Adria Bagshaw & Aaron Bagshaw for always making us (and everyone else!) feel right at home.

Our presenters to our Family Business members yesterday provided the point well that Valuations are NOT just about ‘selling’. They are valuable base lines and business health check points for so many business and personal circumstances. Thank you to Louis Pereira and Kenneth Schaefer, on sharing the how, why & when to engage in a valuation process (and gut checking!) Combined with a tour of the Olson Advanced Manufacturing Center at that showed us the vast possibilities and deep work being done on campus for a myriad of industries - from outer space to ocean floor and all in between - it was a banner day for our Family Businesses.

Hearing the Aubuchon story we got so much more than we ever imagined! Given the brand’s reputation, we knew we’d hear about the chain’s commitment to customers and community, and we did. We knew we’d hear about the different generation’s particular strategies and moves, and we did. But Will Aubuchon gave us even so much more than that. We heard about the Lessons Learned mentality that still drives this 4th generation powerhouse. We learned how intently the company pays attention to leadership development and about how every store is nurtured and celebrated for its individual contribution to success. Although it’s been around for 125 years, Will’s inside scoop presentation left us feeling that this ‘hometown’ chain is just getting started! Thanks Will for painting such a dynamic picture of your family’s commitment.
