I’m walking through aisle after aisle of clearance items, and I honestly can’t stop asking one question.
Why?
Why are we mass producing millions of little trinkets that nobody is buying?
Why are resources being used to manufacture them, package them, ship them across the world, stock them on shelves, and then mark them down 66% just to try to get rid of them?
Some of these items may find a home. But so many won’t. They’ll end up in a donation bin, a trash can, or eventually a landfill.
This isn’t really about one store. It’s about a culture that keeps producing more and more things we don’t actually need.
As a professional organizer, I see the aftermath every day. Closets full of impulse buys. Storage bins full of forgotten décor. Homes weighed down by things that were purchased for a moment and then forgotten.
So I’ll ask it again:
Why are we making so much of this in the first place?
What if we bought less, kept what we truly love, and stopped treating our homes — and our planet — like storage for disposable stuff?
