Priorities?
What does your hair say about you?
I always say: The 1st thing you notice about a person is their HAIR and Body Shape. 👱♀️🤷
I talk to friends, clients and family that will spend an inordinate amount of money on shoes, jewelry, and clothes that they hardly even wear (maybe once a year or one occasion) but yet they think twice about their hair budget ? 🤔
I don't care how expensive your bag is or your outfit is, " If your hair is terrible it's all terrible." 😳
I don't take anything or anyone for granted anymore. I respect myself and them, especially in regard to our careers. When I receive good service I compensate, and then some. I don't expect discounts from my peers or professionals. I seek to patronize small business and tip generously to those who serve in the service industries. 😍
These last few years have really opened my eyes to the amount of respect people have for their Hairstylist. The amount of skill, time and years of on-going education we must possess as well supporting the personal relationship, we honor and value with our guests. An average hair visit today is 2 to 4 hours and encompasses far more skill, products and customers care than ever before.
My 37 years as a stylist has given me the gift of so many relationships. Many of them still going strong for 20 to 30 plus years with the same clients and employees.
You see our country struggling in this time of inflation. Please consider who you cut out in your plight to reduce your monthly expenses.
You can't put a price on Great hair tied together with a great friend and confidant. 💙
There are so many in my industry that have been labeled and led to believe ours is a profession for one who couldn't make it in college or corporate America. How sad for those who believe that for themselves or others 😕
The Beauty industry is filled with intelligence and creativity. Our profession requires chemistry, science, math and architecture as well as an honorary degree in Psychology. Its an extremely physical profession that puts alot of strain on our bodies. We touch people lives not just their hair. We touch their hearts and hold their hands through the hard parts of lives as well as the joys. 🥰
I take pride everyday in the privilege of trust and support from my guests as well as my Amazing Salon Team at Tekniques and all of my industry piers and educators that have walked beside me throughout my career.
I am truly blessed to be thriving in an amazing Industry. 💙👍
Often I see and hear stylists verbally and monetarily discount what they do and speak about their career with lack of passion and confidence. It breaks my ❤️.
Hold your head high, realize what we do.
It's valuable and necessary.
It's creative and requires fortitude, skill and grace. And more people skills than almost any other profession on the planet. You are not to be bargain priced and bargain shopped like a pair of shoes. Do not be disrespected by people who ask for discounts and expect free services. These people would certainly not be expected to cut their hourly wage to do there job, so why should you. Don't undercut yourself and don't overcharge for any services you haven't earned the right too. Be fair and honest in your prices! Your time and expenses are worth it! 😍
I'm so proud to be a Professional Hairstylist and when I meet someone for the first time and they ask what I do for a living?
I always reply ...."I hold people's self esteem in my hands everyday". ❤️
It always creates a pause and a then a quick reply from them asking me " what do you do?
I reply with a Smile 😃 " I'm a Professional Hairstylist ". Usually they follow with a nod
and a smile and after a moment to digest my words, they smile as well and say" YES you do: . 🤩 LOVE WHAT YOU DO ❤️
Love and Light ❤️
