BLAIR PA ALERT: National Weather Service Partners - Blair County and Surrounding Areas - Thursday, October 15, 2026





Severe thunderstorms may develop along a potent cold front that will sweep across the Commonwealth on Friday.
Damaging wind gusts will be the primary threat along the front, though an isolated tornado cannot be ruled out.

*Dwelling Fire with Entrapment*

Freedom Township volunteers were back out again today for an assist to station 70 (Claysburg) for a dwelling fire with confirmed entrapment in Kimmel Twp Bedford County. Engine/Tanker 40, Tankers 40, 40-1, Engine/Rescue 40 and Squad 40 responded with a total staffing of 12. Units arrived simultaneously and were ordered to assist with fire attack and search of the victim. Engine 70 crew located and removed the victim from the residents where life saving measures were started. Crews assisted with fire suppression and overhaul while the tankers supplied water to Engine 70. Unfortunately the victim did not survive. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family during this very difficult time. Also thoughts and prayers to the 911 dispatchers who handled this call.
Special thanks to Lakemont fire company for transferring an engine to our station to cover the area.

12:16pm today Station 40 was dispatched to Poplar Run road Juniata Twp for a garage fire. Engine/Tanker 40, Tanker 40 and Squad 40 responded on the call. E/T 40 arrived and was ordered to pull a line and make fire attack with T-40 to supply. Crews operated for approximately 1 hour 45 mins before being released by command.
