We’re excited to introduce our NEW Leadership program, The Journey of an Evolving Leader, taking place this spring at the Katahdin Higher Education Center. This program will be held on Tuesday mornings, from February 24th to May 26th.

Designed for emerging leaders, this program explores four essential dimensions of leadership: Personal, Interpersonal, Managerial, and Organizational (PIMO). It is structured into two series: Discovery and Practice, combining self-assessment, group discussion, and hands-on learning.

Participants will:
~Develop a personalized professional development plan
~Collaborate on a team project
~Have access to optional one-on-one coaching

Led by our expert instructor, Terri Swanson will guide you through this engaging and transformative experience. This Eastern Maine Community College program blends self-assessment, interactive learning, and practical strategies to help you lead with impact. Please see the attached flyer for full details.

This program is eligible for the Harold Alfond Center for the Advancement of Maine's Workforce funding, which may cover 50% of the cost of this program.

This year has definitely been an amazing year for our emergency services in town for grant applications. We applied for a grant through the Steven and Tabitha King Foundation to replace our aging SCBA bottles. We were awarded $30,000 to replace these items. These are the “air bottles” we utilize going into hazardous environments attached to our breathing apparatus. These bottles have a lifespan of 15 years before they are required to be retired and our bottles were fast approaching that end date. Today, 22 brand new SCBA bottles arrived and they are being placed in service during our work detail tonight.

Katahdin Region Economic Development Director Amy Collinsworth of Eastern Maine Development Corporation organized the first stop of the Katahdin APEX Tour 2025 with her APEX colleagues!

Sherman was the first stop in the northern Katahdin region and was a complete success!

Northern Maine APEX Counselor, Dana Delano and APEX Director, Miranda Pelkey presented a hybrid workshop/webinar at the Sherman Town Office this morning on Maine APEX services.

You must understand the heat of the kitchen and not be put off by it!
You must have reliable transportation
You must love people and food and cats - because we have 2+

Cooking experience is not necessary - Enthusiasm for learning is!!
I taught culinary school for many years.... I can teach most anyone basic culinary skills. What I can't teach is vibrancy and enthusiasm.
We offer free meals every shift... nothing is excluded!
And a 50% discount when dining in for yourself 10% for your guests.

We offer part-time hours up to 20 a week...
We ask that you wear slip resistant shoes as they are a must!!
