Last week’s classes, we welcomed back Sharon Macklin, who taught both part 1 and part 2 of the "Race, Socioeconomics, and Advocacy" workshops! Our Scholars engaged in an open discussion on being a person of color/ first-generation, low-income college student. It was an overall empowering conversation surrounding modern-day racism/stereotypes, understanding associations between race and socioeconomic status, and the importance of advocacy. We discussed the pros and cons of attending a PWI and explored how we see ourselves in these spaces.
Our Scholars were able to share, learn and laugh! 💥
