Johnnie Walker joined Def Jam in 1989 to work in the radio department as a Regional Promotions Manager. Her talent was undeniable, and she soon found herself as the National Director of Promotion.
She was instrumental in helping launch the careers of Redman, Method Man and Foxy Brown. Over her 15 year career at Def Jam, Walker played a pivotal role in marketing music for Public Enemy, Jay Z, DMX, and countless others. “We were a family team! Everything was about the meaning of that logo ... I believe we all had an imaginary Def Jam logo tattooed on our chests! It was a great opportunity to learn the business and grow.”
