Before the walls close, there’s a lot of important work happening behind the scenes.
Framing, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, insulation, and inspections all play a role in making sure a home is built safely, correctly, and to code.

It’s a good reminder that quality construction starts long before the finished walls, fixtures, and final details are in place.

RIBA is proud to support the professionals who help keep Rhode Island’s residential building industry moving forward.

Summer build season moves fast.

Before the first delivery hits the site or the first cut is made, take the time to make sure the details are locked in. Confirm the scope, permits, materials, timeline, and inspections before work begins.

It is the kind of upfront planning that helps avoid delays, callbacks, and confusion once the job is underway.

Strong projects start with solid prep.

Behind every finished home is the frame that gives it shape, strength, and support.
Residential framing is what creates the structure of a home, from walls and floors to rooflines, door openings, and window placement. It is one of the earliest stages of construction, but it sets the foundation for everything that comes next.

For homeowners, understanding the basics can make it easier to follow the building process and ask the right questions along the way.

For builders, it is another reminder that quality starts long before the finishing touches.

Summer heat can sneak up fast on the jobsite. ☀️

As temperatures rise, it’s important to keep crews hydrated, protected, and aware of the early signs of heat stress.

Signs to watch for can include thirst, irritability, heat rash, cramping, dizziness, fatigue, and heavy sweating. More serious warning signs may include confusion, disorientation, slurred speech, fainting, or loss of consciousness. If those severe symptoms appear, cool the worker immediately and call 911.

A few reminders for every jobsite:
• Hydrate often
• Wear proper PPE
• Take shade breaks
• Watch your crew and check in often
