Today the Union was advised that Verizon will be declaring a surplus and offering an EISP to the majority of titles and locations in the state.
Packages will be distributed to employees beginning August 28, 2026. The volunteer period will begin on September 3, 2026, and end on October 2, 2026. Volunteers whose Special EISP applications are accepted will have an off-payroll date of October 11, 2026.

Local 827 is in the process of arranging retirement webinars. Date and time of these webinars will be announced at a later date, please check back for updates.

Our heartfelt condolences go out to the family of our Sister Sondra Meyer, out of Freehold, who passed away yesterday. I know the Meyer family is in all our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

On Friday, August 21st, Local 827 headquarters was visited by brothers of the IBEW 3rd District. In the morning; Officers, Executive Board members and Chief Stewards of Local 827 received training in the IBEW Code of Excellence. At the completion of training, International Third District Vice President Frank Muia administered the oath of office to incoming Local 827 President/Business Manager Tom Kelly, incoming Hudson Unit 1 Executive Board/Business Agent Pat Glover and incoming Southern Unit 5 Executive Board/Business Agent Glenn Yeary. Congratulations on your new positions!

Packed house this morning at the Roseland work center to celebrate Jim Barry’s 55th work anniversary. Congratulations Jim!

Members of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers media department out of Washington DC came to New Jersey today to take video of our Members working, film an impromptu meeting and interview some officers to be shown at the IBEW Convention in San Diego next month. Proud of Local 827 representing IBEW telecom.
