What does it take to hand a 100-year-old family business to the next generation?

The Collins Companies, spent 15 years planning, a lot of personality tests, some tears, and one very memorable dream involving a floating head.

Siblings Kala, Sean, and Mary — the newly named CEO, COO, and CFO of Collins Companies — recently shared how they navigated one of the most challenging transitions any family business faces.

What's most remarkable? None of it felt forced. Each of them grew into their roles organically, earning the respect of their team long before the titles ever changed. And their dad is still there — still guiding, still supportive.

They also touched on something that often gets overlooked in succession conversations: it's not just about the family. It's about the 100 employees, the vendors, the long-tenured colleagues — people who have given their careers to this company and deserve to know it's in good hands.
