Seasons off to rapid start.

Sea Lark has been at it shuffling Salmon pens, Salmon Feed Barges, and now a Schooner.

Josh has done deliveries to Long Island, Roque Island, & Norton Island, a steady Stonington to Isle Au Haut run is looming in her future.

All while the crew has embarked on a float restoration for the Eastport Port Authority.

An extremely cold job completed! We received a call from Maine Marine Patrol regarding a vessel aground on Featherbed Island in the Machias River. The vessel had gone aground, settled on a rock that punctured her below the waterline and completely swamped when the tide came back in. The vessel posed a risk of being carried by the ice flows into the navigable channel of the Machias River. The vessel was floated with airbags and towed to Bucks Harbor in Machiasport where she will be hauled out and scrapped. An unfortunate total loss on the owner’s behalf but a crucial reminder to others to not underestimate winter weather in Maine. The cost of a haul out and winter storage are always cheaper than a salvage operation on a total loss. A special thank you to Machiasport Harbormaster David Cale for his support and local expertise.

Today we had the pleasure of assisting the Maine Island Trail Association and the Coastal Conservancy do a shoreline cleanup of Browney Island. Two incredible non-profits that do so much for our public islands. With a team of volunteers that spent two days collecting marine debris from the island we were able to pull in and collect all of the islands trash load it onto our barge and bring it to the Downeast Institutes pier on Great Wass where the trash could be disposed of properly. A thank you to Christina Hassett from MITA and her team of volunteers for doing an incredible job, and a thank you for allowing us to be part of a worthy cause. We definitely intend to continue aiding in the MITA/ Coastal Conservancy mission with the use of our tugs and barges for years to come!

A huge Thank You to Capt. Brian Fournier and the Captains and Crews at Portland tugboat for extending their hospitality to us for Tugboat races in Portland. Portland Tugboat not only orchestrated an incredibly fun event but also also interwove two great bonuses, a wreath laying memorial for Capt. Doug Fournier that we were honored to attend and a charity drive to help fight Cancer, this we also were honored to contribute to. We went to the races knowing Sea Lark was the smallest/ oldest/ slowest tug in the race and loved every minute of giving it her all! Thank you again to the team at Portland Tugboat, LLC!

Not a problem. Grillmasters step back! Steaks cooked on a D343 Caterpillar Diesel might be the best I’ve ever had!

COI was passed and Sea Lark flew to work. The Ol’ Girl got to push the former Dragon Cement spacer barge from Rockland to Winterport. She handled it like a champ we were delayed an hour and a half departing and still delivered an hour early while still keeping 250 RPM’s in the back pocket.

Six months overdue and six figures over budget, but finally, finally, we got the old girl back in service and she purrs like a kitten with tuberculosis! Sea Lark splashed this morning and exceeded all expectations on sea trials. I doubt if she’s ran this good in over 60 years! After a a delightful morning she’s standing by at Rockland Marine Shipyard with her sister ship (Crystal Palace). USCG inspection on Wednesday and then she’s off to the races/ Eastbound and Down!
