Mary and Steven, owners of Mason Avenue Bakery, sat down with us to share the story behind their signature Café Mason, a simple, thoughtful way to bring a specialty coffee experience into the rhythm of a busy bakery.

With guidance from Eastern Shore Coastal Roasting Co. and the use of a milk steamer in the early days, the drink quickly took shape and became a customer favorite. It eventually earned a permanent place on the menu with the addition of their own commercial steamer.

Inspired by the classic French café au lait, Café Mason blends equal parts Eastern Shore Coastal Roasting dark roast and perfectly steamed milk for a smooth, comforting cup that feels both familiar and refined.

For the warmer months, the Iced Mason offers a refreshing take, made with cold whole milk and their iced coffee. Both are finished with a light dusting of their house made cocoa spice blend, crafted with brown sugar, Dutch process cocoa, warm spices, and locally sourced Barrier Islands sea salt.

Every detail is intentional, and every cup tells a story.
