This is one of the largest logs I have had on the prototype log lift table (4'+ Ash). This was a few days after completion of the prototype unit, and a stress test was in order to see what it would handle. The table had no trouble lifting these rounds, although I did find that these super heavy logs were at the top end of what my counterweight was capable of balancing without hooking the log splitter to the pickup truck for additional stability.
On the new units that I have listed for sale, I did increase the counterweight by 23% for added stability.
For these giants, I found it very easy to roll to the table, tip and slide onto the table, leaving the log on its flat side until I raised the table. I then could raise the table to make the log slide toward the beam, and bring the log up to a standing position, then move the table back down to a level surface and spin the log 90° to begin splitting. I really was able to let the table do all of the heavy lifting for me.
Unfortunately I never thought to get any videos that day. I will have to get a video sometime when I get back into some larger stuff again.
