These are signs of snow mold. Light hand raking to “fluff” the grass will help contain it from spreading. This is gray snow mold. There is also a pink version. Typically you will see mycelium (web like structures) in the patches in the early morning. The best prevention is to cut the grass as short as possible in the fall. If you are seeing things like this, don’t worry, all is not lost. It tends to attack the leaf itself more than the stem and roots of the grass. It will recover. How long that takes depends on what you do now. Light hand raking with a spring type rake to “fluff” the grass will allow it to dry out and discourage the disease to spread further. There are always chemical options available if it does get away from you.
