Long post but...
So let us tell you the scare that CP3D had today!! We received an email this morning that we saw on our way in to the fair from the Kentucky State Fair that was to all vendors. The subject of the email said Important information about your booth. I proceeded to open the email and started reading and it stated that there was a small fire inside the South Wing at section C11. The sprinklers had been deployed and it was contained. Fire department had been on scene and to contact them if your booth was in that area.
Well let me tell you, I said OMG our booth caught on fire. Guys, our booth is C846 but it is against the large block pillar that goes to the ceiling labeled C11. Our hearts immediately sank to our stomachs. Jim ran through everything that he had unplugged and what could have possibly caught fire and he just kept saying I don't know what it would have been. Every scenario ran through our heads. I was worried about product, equipment, printers we had there, people's orders that were waiting for pickup, surrounding booths that I was afraid we caused the fire and damaged someone else's product etc.
We got there as quick as possible and almost ran into the convention center and then entered the door. You could smell fire as soon as you walked in the door. We walked the dreaded walk to our booth both about to cry and our chests tight. The smell got stronger as we got closer. We turned the corner in sight of our booth and it was intact. Not touched! The fire was in the row behind us and the row after that but not ours. The guy beside us had water in his booth but no damage to him. We feel for the two booths that were affected as they were a complete loss. We were so relieved and grateful that we were not the cause or affected. All we could do was hug each other and let out huge sighs of relief. It took me two hours to calm down and the tightness to leave my chest! We have to give a huge shout out to the fire fighters, responders and cleanup crews because they got the smoke out of there before we even got there and everything got cleaned so quickly. The fair went on as planned and many people had no clue that a fire even occurred at 4 am.
