You can only open carry with a current CWP.
You must have a permit to open carry. The new open carry with training act takes affect 8-15-2021.

This event will feature a Ta**us TH9 compact pistol give away. Must be 21 or over and pass the background check to collect the pistol.

Our speaker will be Law Enforcement Professional David Harrington. David is a recently retired police officer. He was also represented by US LAW SHIELD after he was attacked while off duty. David will discuss what to do when encountered by Law Enforcement Officers, during traffic stops, after a home invasion or a personal attack when you used self defense to defend yourself or your family, to mall shootings. We have a dedicated question-and-answer segments to ensure all attendees are able to get the information they want to know from a credible source they can trust.

Appears your SC CWP will no longer be valid in Virgina on Febuary 1st, 2020.
States are currently being notified about the change, which goes into effect on Feb. 1, Herring said. The only states that have tough enough laws to maintain their reciprocity agreement with Virginia are: Michigan, Oklahoma, Texas, Utah and West Virginia, he said.

The states whose permits Virginia will no longer recognize are: Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, Delaware, Florida, Idaho, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Minnesota, Mississippi, Montana, Nebraska, New Mexico, North Dakota, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Washington, Wisconsin and Wyoming.
