Two hundred and fifty years ago, a man named Paul Revere rode through the night to warn a sleeping country that something big was coming.
These days, there's an app for that.
Picture it. July 3rd. The rush is massing outside the door, silent, patient, thirsty. Inside, the bar does not know yet. The taps are calm. The bartenders are talking. Then somewhere in the system, a light starts to blink.
The orders are coming. The orders are coming.
DrinQUP carries the midnight message now. Order by order, screen by screen, sequenced to pour, it wakes the whole rail before the first wave hits the rope. The bartenders look up. They are ready. The rush arrives and breaks against a bar that saw it coming.
Not one guest waited too long. No one walked out. The Republic of the well-run Friday night is preserved for another generation.
They will not write poems about this. There is no statue for a faster pour. Every bartender who reached last call without going under knows the truth anyway.
The warning came in time. You're welcome, America.
Tip your bartender this weekend. They held the line.
Happy almost-Fourth, from everyone at DrinQUP.
